Why Tapas?
Because the "Why" matters.
A common association for Tapas is with food. Originating in Spain, "tapa" literally means "to cover". It referred to a small, salty snack used to cover a glass of wine to protect the wine from flies. Not very pleasant, but an elegant solution for an inelegant problem. Over time, the word Tapas culturally evolved to be considered small, shareable plates of food. Tiny bites that are easy to consume, sometimes making up an entire meal. We love this concept as much as we love Tapas dining, but our inspiration came from a different, lesser known reference.

In Yoga, Tapas represents "fiery discipline". It is the energy that brings a spark of an idea into a vibrant reality. It is the drive required to be committed to something, with a goal towards long-term results over quick gratification.

Stephanie Crain aka Screamish Joy - Creative Strategist | Owner
For the past 25 years, Stephanie has spent her professional life collaborating with others and helping others to collaborate. with an emphasis on branding, culture, and overall creative strategy. Working as an executive leader, her eclectic career has allowed her to lead marketing communications teams in organizations across a variety of diverse industries, including financial services, integrated technology, and culinary health education. Within these organizations, she has always been most excited by creating harmony and elevating talent.
After overcoming a series of personal tragedies, including the loss of her home to a flood in October 2015, Stephanie was given the opportunity to closely examine her values. She looked at where her values aligned in her life, and also at where they were not being honored. From this space she decided where her energy would be best utilized, and she started Tapas Innovation with an intention to help others build value-based businesses.
Beyond her career, Stephanie has studied food and Yoga, earning a 900-hour Culinary Chef certification in health-supportive, plant-based cooking, as well as a 200-hour teacher-training certificate in Kundalini Yoda. She maintains her health through mindfulness and connections with Nature. She is also a skilled and intuitive Tarot card reader. She has been married to her life love for over 30 years, and they have a beautiful daughter together. They also share the love of 3 crazy dogs, 2 feral cats, a snake, and chickens. Together they own Little Mandala Farm.
